The good news is that you won’t need to use much guesswork to figure out if there’s air trapped in your central heating system. Why? Well when there’s air trapped in a human or animals digestive system you can tell pretty quickly because that air is going to follow the path of least resistance to escape – and in humans we see this in the form of burping.

In your central heating system trapped air can be pretty easy to identify because your system is going to make some pretty interesting noises when it’s turned on or shut down each time. One or two loud bangs can be enough of an indication that you have air trapped somewhere in the heating system. Or if your pipes rattle an awful lot when they’re heating up or cooling down that could indicate a problem with an air blockage too.

Fortunately enough trapped air can be released from a central heating system through a process called “bleeding” which means that you track down what section of central heating the air is blocked in and then provide a path for it do just that.
